Thanks to funding from @travelsouthernoregon, we've professionally rebuilt the top of Lizard, and it is ready to ride!
Come check it out! A year ago RVMBA made some massive improvements to one of the most ridden trails in the Ashland watershed. But we weren't done! The rebuilt trail is going to be both more rollable by beginners and yet fun for advanced riders. And it's going to be far better built and require less maintenance in the long run. We even added some major drainage. Thanks again for your membership and support!
Make sure you’ve marked your calendars for 4/20!Starting at 4:00pm, the first 50 people to show up to the membership drive party @thenoblefoxashland and set up a recurring RVMBA membership will get this sweet RVMBA t-shirt! Many thanks to REI Medford for their sponsorship and continuing support of the Rogue Valley mountain bike community.
Do you like good music? You do. And guess what? We've booked the incredible local band @thebrothersreed to kick off the party thanks to a generous donation by @welburnelectric. Get there early! All Ages! The music will be flowing from 4 to 5:30pm. 👏
A year ago RVMBA made some massive improvements to one of, if not the most ridden trails in the Ashland watershed. But we're not done! Our amazing sponsors, @travelsouthernoregon have fully funded a professional build for the first third of the trail. The resulting trail is going to be both more rollable by beginners and yet fun for advanced riders. And it's going to be far better built and require less maintenance in the long run. But we'll need to close it down Thursday and Friday this week, April 11 and 12, 2024. We recommend the upper trails and west side trails while the work is being performed. Thanks again for your membership and support!
What a beautiful day for trail work on Jabberwocky in Ashland! The shop crew from @rei Medford joined us as we beefed up many of the berms and a few jumps on the upper half of the trail.
Next time you're at REI, say thanks for their support of our trails and community!
A huge thank you to the many volunteers who gave of their time today. It's deeply appreciated!!

JOIN US SUNDAY APRIL 7. The road to White Rabbit parking lot is closed, but we've been granted safe access to work on upper Jab. There's currently a gate at the beginning of the road, so we'll let you up the road between 9:45am and 10am. No early or late entries. Carpool if you're able. It's going to be a great time hanging out with cool people and afterward, @rei Medford is buying lunch and refreshments at @gilsofashland and @rubys_ashland! Dress in layers, bring gloves, water, and shovel-stomping shoes. No experience necessary. Any age! Email any questions to info@rvmba.org.
Hey Grants Pass riders! We're stoked to see the big improvements on Bridges trail in Cathedral Hills this past week. RVMBA Board VP @cthorson51 and @earthworxllc led a @blmoregonwashington sponsored trail crew to massively enhance the riding experience. Go check it out!
TRAIL CLOSURES IN ASHLAND: We'll do our best to keep you updated on the trail closures over the next month or so. But you can always look at the live GIS map for the latest before your ride. Thanks as always for staying clear of this very hazardous area during the helicopter logging operation.
The forest thinning and helicopter removal work being done by Ashland Forestland Climate Adaptation Project will start March 26. Some Ashland trails will begin closing on April 1.
This thinning will be on lands managed by the City of Ashland and APRC. For your safety and the safety of those working, please do not attempt to enter or ride through the active logging areas.
Which trails are closed? See updates on the live map (Link in our bio).
From the project website:
The busiest trails are the priority for staying open and being reopened. That includes BTI, Jabberwocky, Alice in Wonderland, Bandersnatch, Red Queen, and Snark…among others in that general area. During some of the operation, the Ashland Loop Road to White Rabbit Trailhead will also close due to trees being cut on the roadsides and the helicopter removing cut logs. Though trails downhill and west from White Rabbit Trailhead will be closed, traffic going uphill to Lizard, Caterpillar, and further south will be open when the Loop Road is open at the gate just above Morton Street, and as accessed from Four Corners and Toothpick Trail. Trails in Siskiyou Mountain Park will also close, including White Rabbit, Mike Uhtoff, and Queen of Hearts until work is completed and all trails are inspected for safety. The closure period will last as long as the work is ongoing, which is subject to weather and operations. Plan on trails being closed for 3-6 weeks, depending on the trail.
Did you hear? The best party of the year is coming to a brand new Ashland brewery, @thenoblefoxashland on Saturday, April 20 from 4-8pm. RVMBA is so excited to bring the mountain bike community together for the evening! There'll be a raffle as well as sweet incentives for those who sign up as new members. Save the date! ALL AGES WELCOME.
It's going to be a great trail day on one of our favorites! Mark your calendar for April 7 and meet at White Rabbit parking lot. Bring gloves, water, and shovel-stomping shoes. No experience necessary. Any age! We'll be treated to lunch afterward by our amazing supporters, @rei Medford. Email any questions to info@rvmba.org.
Huge thank you to the dedicated volunteers who came out to help us dial in the Mimsy trail in Ashland today. A special thanks to Joe Skates and Jason Minica from @ashlandparksandrec for saving us HOURS of hand compacting, @ashlandhardware for the fantastic new trail tools, and @worksharptools for feeding us! We think you're going to love the newest version of MIMSY on your way to BTI! 📷: ryanhawk.com
DO YOU LIKE HATS? We've got a super limited, suuuper sweet hat designed by @flowfactorynw and generously provided by @rei Medford. The design is inspired by the Jabberwocky trail. And we want to get one into your hands if you are a regular trail day volunteer. Here's how: BE or become a member of RVMBA. Sign in and volunteer at 3 trail work days this year. That's it! And if you earn one, be sure to wear it into REI Medford and thank them for their support of our RVMBA community!
SAVE THE DATE! Next trail work day will be on MIMSY trail (aka old Alice) as we fine tune the build from earlier in the winter. Final shaping and compacting. Meet at White Rabbit parking lot at 9:45am.
Sorry, because we’re using gas powered plate compactors, no kids under 16.
Sponsored lunch provided after by @worksharptools.
Town Hall tonight at 5:30pm - let’s show our appreciation for the support of the outdoor community and push for continuation of that support!

Ashland is getting a bike bus!
The first (and thus far only) Ashland Bike Bus primarily serves families at Willow Wind, Trails, Ashland Middle School, and the Siskiyou School. If you want to see another route serving families starting/heading elsewhere, contact Mike (info below).
A bike bus uses two trained conductors working together. One leads at front; one sweeps at rear. Additional parent volunteers will help “cork” intersections.
There are one or more timed stops, where the whole group waits til a prescribed time to take off again en masse. But folks can and should join in at any point along the route (details below).
Lead volunteer: Mike Vergeer, parent to Paloma at Willow Wind and certified bike safety instructor (LCI #2968). Text 541-631-9280 or email bike@rvtd.org with comments, questions, or help assessing your kid’s readiness.
To parents: there are, of course, some risks inherent in bicycling to school. If your kid is wobbly or otherwise unready to ride near traffic, you should ride with your kid. If they can stay focused and respond to some coaching, you can leave them to ride with the group. It’s your call.
* Note: When Willow Wind is not in session on the first Friday of a given month, we’ll ride on the next Friday when school IS in session. For the 2023-24 school year, we’ll ride Oct. 6, Nov. 17, Dec. 1, Jan. 5, Feb. 2, Mar. 8, April 5, and May 3 (and June 7 only in case of snow/make-up day). The Bike Bus will run rain or shine!
